SCULPTURES

VENGO A OFRECER MI CORAZON

Aurora rosa (Portugese marble)
1,64 x 1,30 x 0,30 m
This is my first sculpture in the heart series. Finally I had found my main theme: LOVE. I took the metaphor, the heart, and tried to give it an extra dimension. This sculpture stands in the garden of Crematorium Daelwijck on the spot where we sprinkled out my Dad’s ashes in 1984.

MONUMENT VOOR 2 GELIEFDEN

Monument for two lovers Encarnado and jaune marble (Portugese)
2,50 x 1,20 x 0,60 m
I made this sculpture especially for a Memento exhibition in the Universiteits Museum in Utrecht. The idea was to make my own grave. It turned out a little bigger. I see myself as someone who relates to others, even when I’m dead. A stone for a single space would be inappropriate. Sadly, this sculpture didn’t survive the last relocation.

TO THE JASPER TOWER OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL FLESH

Aurora rosa en Brecchia
(Portugese marble)
1,60 x 0,36 x 2,30 m

This is inspired by a part of a
poem by Wu Tsao, a Chinese Taoist priestess from the 19th century.

After the yellow sunset
The cold moon rises
Out of the gloomy mist.
I will not let down the blinds
Of spotted bamboo from their silver hook
Tonight my dreams will follow the wind,
Suffering the cold,
To the jasper tower of your beautiful flesh.

CENTERFOLD
TOGETHER/GATE OF HEARTS

Aurora rosa and old curbs from the center of Utrecht
3.50 x 1.60 x 0.80 m

SO MANY PASSIONS, SO MANY DESIRES, YIELD TO THE WIND

Portugese marble

3,50 x 1,60 x 0,80 m
In a phase between the themes human figures and Love I made this sculpture about transience.

BIG HEART ON BABEL

Fluorescent lights and pink film
40 x 20 x 0,10 m
It is 2006, the year of BABEL, art, eat and out. A project where 44 exhibitions took place in a 14-story building just north of the center of Utrecht. I looked out at Babel from my apartment and thought up a way to continue the theme Love, in an easier way than stone. I could use light! My concept was carried out by an Iranian artist/asylum seeker.
